Escape Academy Faculty and Characters Explained
Meet the colorful faculty of Escape Academy, including Coach Yoach, and learn how the school's characters fit into the escape room story.

Who are the characters in Escape Academy?

The characters in Escape Academy are the people at a school that trains students to become escapists: faculty you meet around campus, plus a supporting cast of students and employees. The official store page promises “a colorful cast of characters, each an expert in the art of Escape,” and teases that some have “secrets yet to be uncovered,” but it names only two people outright: the Headmaster and Coach Yoach. Everyone else has to be picked up in-game or from the artists’ own material.
A character-art portfolio posted on Domestika by artist boello, credited to Coin Crew Games, gives the clearest outside look at the design work. It shows finished portraits labelled Jeb, Slip, Employee, Quanty, G, Bonilla, Eel and Headmaster — a mix of names, surnames and job titles, so they identify designs rather than spell out roles.
| Character | Where the name appears | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Headmaster | Official store page | Described as not having approved a certain art lesson plan; no further role details are given |
| Coach Yoach | Official store page | Fronts the Tournament of Puzzles content update |
| Jeb, Slip, Employee, Quanty, G, Bonilla, Eel | Domestika character-art portfolio | Design labels only; the store page does not describe their roles |
Escape Academy is a first-person puzzle game from developer Coin Crew Games in which students earn grades by solving escape rooms themed after academic subjects, according to Wikipedia.
Who are the faculty at Escape Academy?
The store page confirms a faculty exists and that you are meant to get to know it, but it does not name individual staff members beyond the Headmaster. Its only promise is that you will “explore the campus of Escape Academy and get to know the faculty” — and Coach Yoach arrives with the competitive update rather than the main curriculum.
What the page does list is the curriculum itself:
- A Tea ’N Tea Party — defuse a bomb before your tea goes cold.
- Hack the Professor — prove to the Academy’s super A.I. that you have the skills to become an Escapist.
- Go for the Gold — represent your class in The Rival Room against your nemesis.
- Do Not Drown! — climb a puzzle-tower that is rapidly filling with water.
- Spray Paint the Monument — art class, without the Headmaster’s approval.
Those are room names, not named teachers, and the store page does not attach a professor to each one. The official description does not go further than that.
A sequel, Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, launched on 5 November 2026 according to Coin Crew Games’ Steam announcement, and its pre-release devlogs introduce a separate set of teachers for that game — including Professor Von Bellini on the Science Campus and Enora Chortkoff on the Arts Campus. Those are the sequel’s faculty, not confirmed members of the 2022 game’s staff.
Who is Coach Yoach?
Coach Yoach is the character the store page names in connection with Escape Academy: The Tournament of Puzzles, the game’s head-to-head puzzle competition content. The page’s pitch is to “hit the road with Coach Yoach” and “showdown against your friends in a head to head, globe-spanning series of puzzle competitions” — beyond that framing, the description does not spell out the Coach’s exact role in the mode.
The Coach is also the reason the competitive mode is playable alone. The store page notes that “Coach Yoach is happy to let any Escapist solve their way through the courses in single player mode,” framing the solo version as puzzle practice.
Tournament of Puzzles ships with three arenas, each described on the store page:
- Tomb of the First Escapist — an Egyptian tomb deep in the place “where Escape began,” built around secret passages.
- Hackannery — an abandoned fish cannery turned hacker enclave on a rain-soaked pier, heavy on tech and water themes.
- The Showman’s Studio — the biggest theatre in all of Escape, full of magical challenges.
What secrets do the faculty have?
There is no official answer — the store page says only that some faculty members have “secrets yet to be uncovered,” and nothing in the store description or the developers’ Steam posts says whose secrets they are or when they surface. That line is a tease, not a summary, so anything more specific you read elsewhere is either story speculation or a spoiler.
